AMMAN — Lebanon’s Rachid Akl held off a strong final day chase from compatriot Sheikh Mouss El Zein to win the 27th Jordan Open on Saturday, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.
Played at the Greg Norman-designed Ayla Golf Course in Aqaba, the Open saw Akl lead from day one and eventually took the title with a three-round total of 241.
But his winning margin was only two shots after Zein mounted a strong final day chase.
Third went to Bilal Ataya of Palestine and Salim El Zein was fourth. Jordan’s 13-year-old Shergo Kurdi led the home nation’s challenge in fifth, while the former reigning champion, Amer Radee of Iraq, was sixth.
