AMMAN — Reigning champion Manaf Hijjawi is bidding to maintain his perfect start to the Rotax Max Challenge on Saturday, the national karting championship organised by Jordan Motorsport, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.
Hijjawi was in superb form when he won the opening round of the season last month by taking both races on the day, and he will again be the man to beat when Round Two is held at the Jordan Speed Centre this weekend.
But there will be a number of drivers waiting to pounce on any mistake he may make with Abdullah Al Duilime and Amir Al Najjar among those looking to close the gap on Hijjawi.
“It was an exciting start to the Karting season last month and once again we can expect another tough day of racing this weekend,” said Othman Nassif, CEO of Jordan Motorsport.
Several race categories will be held on the day which gets under way with the Micro Max and Mini Max qualifying from10:30am. Action will continue through to the Prize Giving scheduled for 1:35pm. The Rotax Max Challenge consists of five rounds.
