AMMAN — Health cadres in Zarqa Municipality have uncovered an incident involving a pharmacy producing and selling qatayef, a seasonal dish of pancake-like pastry which is filled with cheese, nuts, or other fillings, then baked or fried and dipped in sugar syrup.

The health affairs director at the municipality, Qasim Rousan, said on Thursday that making qatayef in the pharmacy is a violation of laws related to food and medicine, noting that bakeries and restaurants produce qatayef in accordance with specific standards, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
