Winners of Crown Prince Award for Best Gov’t Service Application announced

AMMAN — The Crown Prince Award for Best Government Service Application on Wednesday announced winners of the second edition of the award.

The virtual ceremony was held under strategic partnership to modernise and develop government work and cooperation between Jordan and the UAE, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh, who also heads the steering committee of the award, said that the award aims to encourage creativity and innovation among university students and adopt their ideas to develop the level of government services.

The minister added that the award seeks to find creative solutions in smart phone applications in 10 categories: Health, education, transport, business environment, tourism, youth, social affairs, refugees, security and crisis management, and agriculture and food security. 

Hanandeh stressed that the award reflects HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s concern for Jordanian youth and his belief that the youth are capable of realising their “biggest achievements if they are equipped with the necessary skills”.

UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Omar Al Olama stressed that the award reflects both countries’ interest to enhance cooperation to empower university students and prepare them to lead the future. 

The Nabad application ranked first and won JD50,000. The application provides a platform for organ and blood donation through two interfaces for institutions and potential donors.

The FarmJo application ranked second and won JD30,000. The application aims to help the Agriculture Ministry in realising food security through providing statistical data for decision makers and investors on the amount of crops and their consumption rates.

The Dawai (My medicine) application, which ranked third and won JD20,000, represents an e-pharmacy that provides all necessary information about medicines and times of consumption.
