Wheat supplies enough for whole year — minister

AMMAN —The Kingdom’s supply of wheat is sufficient for domestic consumption for 12 months, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tareq Hammouri said on Thursday.
The official said that the supply includes the quantities stored in silos, ground containers and contracted quantities under previously signed contracts.
He added, in a press statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the ministry constantly floats tenders to keep the shipments coming, and to maintain the storage at the highest levels, making sure that orders are made from different countries of origin, in line with the best international specifications.
He noted that the stored quantities of wheat and barley in the Kingdom amount to about one million tonnes.
