AMMAN — The Water Ministry, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), has detected cases of water theft from the main pipeline of the Zara Ma'in, which supplies drinking water to Amman's Maghtas region (Baptism region).
The ministry on Sunday announced that it also discovered four cases of theft from the Kursi spring in the Wadi Al Seer region, where unauthorised tankers were filling up, and large amounts of water were being extracted for private use. The ministry said that two illegal wells were filled in the Maan's Eil and Al Jarba regions, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The ministry confirmed that all the cases were resolved, and reports were prepared to be submitted to the public prosecutor's office for further investigation and prosecution of the offenders. The ministry also said that it will continue to pursue all perpetrators who divert water from pipelines, dig unauthorised wells or sell water without a license, and urged the public to report any unauthorised water-selling operations, particularly in the Wadi Al Seer region, as these practices pose a significant threat to public safety and health.
