USAID launches 'Tech for Jobs' to train 4000 data analyst

AMMAN —  Correlation One, a global workforce development platform, on Wednesday launched "Tech for Jobs", a training and employment programme, in Jordan, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

 The initiative aims to create economic opportunities for 4,000 Jordanians by providing training and professional development in data analytics and connecting them with international companies to prepare them for remote work, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In addition to the training component, USAID will fund an impact evaluation through a randomised controlled trial conducted by the global research centre Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Richard Chen director of USAID's Office of Economic Development and Energy, said: "This initiative is one of 17 randomised controlled trials for USAID worldwide,” and expressed hope that this model will be expanded to create more job opportunities for women in Jordan.

The "Tech for Jobs" programme supports two key USAID objectives in Jordan, promoting inclusive private sector growth by enhancing the competitiveness of Jordan's private sector in the global digital economy, and increasing women's participation in the workforce.

Shamsaldeen Mustafa co-founder and co-CEO of Correlation One commended the initiative as a significant step to democratise access to data-driven jobs.
