AMMAN — A high-ranking US economic and trade delegation from Nebraska is scheduled to begin a working visit to Jordan on Tuesday to review the Kingdom’s available commercial and investment opportunities, Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Chairman NaelKabariti announced on Saturday.

The delegation’s visit, which is headed by Nebraska Secretary of State Robert Evnen, comes under the theme: "Innovation, Sustainability and Food Security", and is organised by the JCC in cooperation with the National US–Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Nebraska, located in the Midwest region of the US, is a major producer of food and agricultural products, and is known for its manufacturing and ICT fields.

The delegation includes business owners representing the sectors of pharmaceuticals, medical laboratories, home health care, water management and sustainability, and agricultural products.

Additionally, the delegation represents the sectors of food and catering companies, agricultural engineering and tools, irrigation and environmentally friendly technologies, consultancy in higher education and university enrollment services, and legal advisors specialised in immigration affairs, information technology and cyber security.

On the sidelines of the two-day visit, a workshop will be held next Wednesday to discuss Jordan's investment opportunities, privileges and areas of joint economic cooperation with Nebraska.

Kabariti highlighted the importance of the visit to discuss possible ways to enhance economic and trade relations, identify available investment opportunities in the Kingdom and in Nebraska and promote contacts among business owners.

Kabariti lauded the high level of the Jordan-US "historic and political friendship", stressing the Kingdom's keenness to enhance its trade with the US and raise the level of economic cooperation.

Kabariti said that the JCC is organising the delegation's visit based on its continuous role to promote Jordan's economic opportunities, business environment and investment and create new opportunities for trade with various countries, in a way that enables the country to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also referred to the JCC's “active” role through the Washington DC-based NUSACC membership, which was established more than half a century ago, and is the oldest US service organisationdedicated to Arab-US business. The organisation has relations with more than 25,000 companies interested in trade between the Arab world and the US.

Kabariti said that Jordan is working to cooperate to organise many economic activities and attract trade missions, which would contribute "significantly" to promoting Jordan at the economic and investment levels.

Jordan's exports to the US during the first 11 months of 2021 increased by 34.6 per cent to around JD1.460 billion, compared to JD1.085 billion during the same period in 2020.
