AMMAN — The University of Jordan (UJ) has been recently selected to host a local edition of the Hult Prize, a competition awarding $1 million in start-up funding for students.
According to a UJ statement, the annual Hult Prize, in partnership with the UN, “is awarded to students that develop the most radical and breakthrough ideas to solve one of our world’s toughest social challenges”.
The winner of the intra-campus event will automatically advance to compete in one of fifteen regional finals happening around the world, said the statement.
They will then move take part in a summer business accelerator, where participants will receive mentorship and strategic planning as they create prototypes and begin to launch their new social businesses. A final round of competition will be hosted in September, where the winning team will be awarded the $1 million prize.
Rousl Sardy, who will be leading the Hult Prize at University of Jordan on Campus Programme, was quoted in the statement as saying that she is confident that her peers have as good as chance as any to go all the way.
Hult Prize at UJ is now recruiting volunteers and teams who are interested in registering for the competition. To learn more, you can contact the organisation at hultprizeju19@gmail.com.
