Unemployment rises compared with same quarter last year

AMMAN — The unemployment rate in the second quarter of 2018 stood at 18.7 per cent, up by 0.7 per cent when compared with the same period of 2017, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Monday.
Unemployment among males for the April-June period of 2018 was 16.6 per cent, and 26.8 per cent among females, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
When compared with the same period in 2017, unemployment in the second quarter of 2018 witnessed a 3.2 per cent increase among males and 7.1 decrease among females.
