UN official visits eastern military zone command

AMMAN — UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock on Monday visited the eastern military zone command, where he was briefed by commander of the zone Brig. Gen. Fakhr Khleifat on the burdens the Syrian refugee influx places on the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).
Khleifat also acquainted Lowcock with security conditions and the JAF’s efforts to preserve the northeastern frontier, as well as the facilities offered by the service centre for Syrian refugees at Al Rukban refugee camp, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
For his part, the UN official expressed his appreciation for the JAF’s humanitarian role in bearing the repercussions of the refugee influx, highlighting the UN’s assistance to Jordan in providing decent living conditions to refugees.
