AMMAN — The University of Jordan (UJ) President Professor Nathir Obeidat on Tuesday met with United Nations (UN) Resident and Humanitarian Coordinato, Anders Pedersen, and the Head of UNESCO Office to Jordan Min Jeong Kim, to discuss prospects of academic and cultural cooperation.

Topics discussed included: Higher education in Jordan, the university’s educational process, efforts to link educational outcomes to the labour market, skills development, and challenges, such as “brain drain” and low participation rates of female graduates in the labour market, according to a UJ statement.

The meeting also examined ways to support the UN Depository Library at UJ’s main library and the possibility of creating a cultural corner to highlight the efforts of the organisation.

On a visit to the main Library, UJ Library Unit Director Mujahed Thneibat, provided a glimpse of the contents and services of the library, which has been a depository centre for UN publications since 1970.
