UJ Library conference on e-publishing opens Monday

AMMAN — The University of Jordan Library opens its first international conference on Monday, under the theme “Social Media Shaping Electronic Publishing”.
The conference aims to bring together researchers, academics and scientists to share their experiences and discuss the most recent trends and challenges in the field of e-publishing, along with their implications on academic publishing, information services and e-learning, according to the conference’s website.
Through the presentation of some 27 research papers in Arabic and English, the three-day activity will discuss applications of social media in libraries and learning, the role of social media in e-learning, and e-publishing in Arabic.
Another topic under study will be the ethical and legal issues in e-publishing, showcasing a number of case studies in e-publishing from the region.
Meanwhile, a workshop will discuss e-publishing and e-archiving, and another will tackle anti-plagiarism techniques and methodologies, according to the conference’s schedule.
The event’s keynote speakers include Marshall Breeding, an expert and independent consultant in the fields of libraries and publishing, and Shaher Momani, dean of the university’s science faculty, who was selected among the world’s highly cited researchers and most influential scientific minds.
