AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor on Saturday charged two men with complicity in murder in connection with the death of a woman in an Amman suburb over the weekend, official sources said.
The 31-year-old woman was reportedly strangled to death in an apartment on Friday in the Rashid suburb, a senior judicial source said.
The main suspect then went to the nearest police station and turned himself in, “claiming to have killed the woman following a heated argument”, the judicial source added.
In his initial testimony to police, a second source said, “the suspect told investigators that he knew the victim for a while and that she was causing problems for him in front of his family”.
On Friday, the source said, quoting the initial confession of the suspect, that the victim went to an apartment to discuss the matter with the suspect in the presence of his friend and “a heated argument ensued”.
“The suspect chocked the victim with his hands, then used a scarf to make sure she was dead,” the second source added.
The Criminal Court prosecutor, however, decided to “charge his friend as well for the time being, because his role in the murder was still not clear”.
“The suspect’s friend was also detained and charged pending further investigation into the incident,” the second source told The Jordan Times.
