Two-day celebrations to mark Revolt centennial in Aqaba

AMMAN — The Jordan Media Commission on Wednesday announced the agenda for the Great Arab Revolt centennial ceremony the Interior Ministry is scheduled to hold in Aqaba, 330km south of the capital, on Friday and Saturday.
The ceremony will feature various activities, including air shows, musical performances and marches by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army musical band. On both days, the activities start at noon and continue until 7:10pm at the Great Arab Revolt Square and from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Al Saadeh Street, according to a statement released by the commission.
The Revolt was led by Sharif Hussein Bin Ali, His Majesty King Abdullah’s great-great-grandfather, against Ottoman rule in 1916.
