AMMAN — Tweeps in Jordan criticised the sudden announcement of Tawjihi results on Wednesday.
In several tweets, users also criticised festive firing as a way to express joy over passing the General Secondary Certificate Examination’s winter session as others urged authorities to be firm with violators.
“This is not nice at all. I am at work and I did not know the results were scheduled to be published today. I prefer to be with relatives to celebrate,” Tala (@tala200) tweeted.
Education Ministry Spokesperson Walid Jallad said Tuesday that Tawjihi results were not expected until mid-February, but the ministry held a surprise press conference on Wednesday morning to announce the results.
Tweeps, who offered their congratulations to those who passed the exam, called for abiding by the law when celebrating.
“There is no need at all to fire bullets in the air. This causes tragedies for people,” Tayseer Hweiti (@tayseeralhwaity) tweeted.
Twitter and Facebook users shared several pictures of reckless driving across the country in celebration of passing the Tawjihi while others shared news of the Public Security Department issuing tickets to violators.
Hana Ziad (@hanaziad025) tweeted: “May God be with us [amidst] the silly celebrations of Tawjihi today.”
