AMMAN — Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawishoglu on Tuesday received the Jordanian Ambassador to Turkey Ismail Rifai in Ankara to follow up on the results of a recent Royal visit to Turkey.
Rifai has held a series of meetings with top Turkish officials, such as Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, and invited them to visit the Kingdom for discussions on boosting ties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania recently paid a visit to Turkey during which the King and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to expand cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the economic and investment fields.
The two leaders also highlighted the importance of sustaining coordination and consultation over issues of joint interest and the latest developments in the Middle East.
Talks also reiterated the importance of sustaining efforts to support UNRWA and enable it to continue providing aid, education and health services to refugees.
Director General of Gendarmerie Department Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh on Tuesday also received Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Murat Karagöz on Tuesday to discuss enhancing security coordination and cooperation by exchanging expertise and training.
Both the Jordanian and Turkish gendarmeries are members of the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces (FIEP).
Hawatmeh assumed the presidency of the association in 2017, before handing it over to a Turkish official for the current presidential term.
The FIEP is an association of national gendarmeries and affiliated corps, encompassing the European and Mediterranean gendarmeries and police forces with military status, according to its website.
