Tunisians now exempt from visa fees — ministry

AMMAN — Interior Minister Samir Mubaidin said on Monday that Tunisian citizens entering the Kingdom are now exempt from visa fees, adding that the decision was based on Visa By-law No.3 of 1997 and was implemented reciprocally.

Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdul Nasser Abul Bassal also met with Tunisian Ambassador to Jordan Khalid Sohaili over ways of enhancing religious cooperation between the two countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Abul Bassal underscored the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Jordan and Tunisia, noting that the recent Royal visit paid to Tunisia reflects on the level of cooperation and convergence of views between the two countries.

The two parties agreed to hold the Jordanian-Tunisian Committee for Religious Affairs’ second meeting next March to discuss finalising plans in the field. 

The minister invited Tunisia’s religious affairs minister and the president of Ez-Zitouna University to attend the international workshop focused on discussing the concepts of the Amman Message.

The Tunisian ambassador voiced his appreciation for the advanced level of relations Jordan and Tunisia enjoy in various domains, stressing the importance of furthering religious cooperation.

His Majesty King Abdullah recently paid a visit to Tunisia and met with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi over bolstering economic, trade, investment, military, agricultural and tourism cooperation.

During his visit, King Abdullah affirmed Jordan’s keenness to ensure the success of the upcoming Arab summit, which will be hosted by Tunisia next month, with the goal of enhancing joint Arab action.
