Trade Ministry inaugurates solar energy project

AMMAN — Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Ali on Tuesday inaugurated the first phase of a solar energy project at the ministry’s headquarters, which uses photovoltaic cells to generate electricity and reduce the energy bill.
The ministry said the solar cells are expected to generate 40.67 kilowatt hours annually, constituting 7 per cent of its energy bill, with the ministry being able to recover the cost of the system in 44 months.
The second phase will be implemented in the ministry’s governorate centres in Zarqa, Mafraq, Karak and Maan.
