Trade deficit dropped by 22.7% in first 8 months of 2020

AMMAN — The trade deficit in the first eight months of 2020 dropped by 22.7 per cent to JD4.076 billion compared with last year’s JD5.272 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Monday.

DoS figures showed that the value of total exports, national and reexported, during the January-August period totalled JD3.63 billion, showing a drop by 5.1 per cent, compared with JD3.825 billion in the same period last year, the DoS said in a report cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Meanwhile, imports declined by 0.1 per cent in the first eight months of the year to JD3.232 billion when compared with 2019, according to DoS figures.
