Tourism revenues totalled $2.7b in 2021 — CBJ

AMMAN — Tourism revenues in December of 2021 increased by $221 million to $292 million, compared with the same period of 2020, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) said on Sunday. 

The CBJ data showed an increase in the number of tourists in December by some 190,000 to reach 249,000. 

The figures showed that tourism income increased by 90 per cent in 2021 to $2.7 billion, compared with a 75.7 per cent decline in 2020 as a result of the increase in tourist numbers in 2021 to 2.358 million tourists. 

Non-resident Jordanians generated 41.7 per cent of the total tourism revenues, Arab tourists (excluding Gulf nationals) 28 per cent and Gulf tourists 15 per cent. 

Revenues from European countries accounted for 6.7 per cent followed by the revenues from the US of 2.8 per cent of the total tourism revenues, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing CBJ figures.
