AMMAN — Minister of Higher Education Muhyiddine Touq on Tuesday met with Ukrainian Chargé d'Affairs in Jordan Dmytro Byliev and discussed ways to reach the best possible solutions to the expulsion of Jordanian students studying in Ukrainian universities.
Talks also went over graduate students whose certificates were seized as a result of having earned Yemeni or Libyan high school certificates, which are not recognised by the Ukrainian authorities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Touq stressed the need for Ukrainian universities to give the expelled Jordanian students transcripts, which can be certified by the Ukrainian authorities so that they can enter universities outside Ukraine to complete their studies. He also demanded that graduates receive their graduation certificates in addition to their transcripts, with Jordanian students retaining their right to sue Ukrainian universities for damages.
Byliev assured Touq that he will communicate with the Ukrainian Ministry of Education on the issue, adding that the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice is ready to provide Jordanian students with information in the case that they decide to file a lawsuit, Petra reported.
