AMMAN — Temperatures during this week are expected to be five degrees higher than their annual average for this time of the year, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Hot and dry weather is forecast to prevail during this week as the Kingdom will remain under the impact of a relatively hot air mass accompanied by a weak seasonal thermal depression.

“The relatively hot air mass started affecting the country on Saturday and will continue prevailing until Tuesday at least,” a JMD weather forecaster said on Saturday.

Temperatures will be four to five degrees higher than the annual average of 31°C during this time of the year, according to the meteorologist.

A slight rise in temperatures is forecast for Sunday and Monday, when the weather will be relatively hot in mountainous areas and very hot in the rest of the country.

Daytime temperatures will be 35°C on Sunday and Monday, dropping to a low of 22°C at night in Amman, while winds will be easterly to northeasterly, turning in the afternoon to northwesterly moderate to brisk.

A further rise in temperatures is forecast for Tuesday, when the weather will be hot across the country and very hot in the Dead Sea, Aqaba and the Jordan Valley.

Temperatures will be 36°C during the day, dropping to a low of 23°C at night in the capital, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk, especially at night in hilly areas and the desert.
