Tarawneh, Indian PM review bilateral ties

AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh on Friday met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to express Jordan’s keenness to enhance bilateral ties at the economic and investment levels.

Tarawneh reviewed Jordan’s efforts in dealing with regional crises to enhance regional and international peace and security, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Talks focused on regional and international efforts in the war against terrorism.

PM Modi voiced his country’s keenness to boost relations with Jordan in various fields, praising the “advanced status” of the Kingdom at the regional and international levels. He commended Jordan’s stances in supporting world peace, security and stability.

Tarawneh on Wednesday delivered a personal letter from His Majesty King Abdullah to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, where the King highlighted the depth of bilateral relations and expressed his desire to boost strategic partnership through enhanced coordination and increased economic cooperation. 

The King underlined the importance of intensifying international efforts to combat terrorism and of working together to reach political solutions to regional and global crises, while preserving international security and stability. 

The letter also pointed out India’s role as an effective global actor to “achieve a better future for the world”.
