AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Wednesday extended His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, who received Tarawneh and an accompanying delegation at the presidential palace in Baku.

Tarawneh highlighted the depth of bilateral relations and the importance of coordinating stances towards mutual issues.

Jordan is closely following developments in Syria and Iraq and actively contributing to efforts to combat terrorism, the House speaker said, adding that Jordan rejects racism and bigotry.

He said that Jordan has clear diplomatic priorities, chief of which is to reach a two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, Aliyev praised Jordan’s regional role, while expressing appreciation for the bilateral relations between Amman and Baku, especially at the political and economic levels.
