Sweis shares 2023 digital insights: High home Internet access, mobile dominance

AMMAN — Information and Communications Technology Association (Intaj) Board Chairman Eid Sweis on Monday revealed the latest statistics related to digital monitoring in Jordan for 2023.

The statement, released by the association on Monday, indicated that the percentage of Jordanian households with Internet access at home reached 95 per cent, based on statistics compiled by the association's Market Study Unit, according to 2023 Digital Development Report issued by the International Telecommunication Union and other international research institutions.

The data also showed that Internet access through mobile devices among Jordanians is 90 per cent. As for mobile broadband subscriptions, the data showed that around 44 per cent of these subscriptions cover third and fourth-generation technologies, with coverage reaching 99 per cent. The statistics also show that the average individual consumes 63 GB/monthly using mobile phones.

Sweis also highlighted that annually 7,000 students graduate from the Information and Communication technology field, distributed among engineering, programming, cyber security, data analysis and digital marketing.
