AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested two suspects in an alleged JD130,000 fraud case in the capital, the Public Security Department (PSD) said Thursday. In early July, a woman filed a complaint against a man who came to her workplace, claiming he could unearth treasures.

He gave her gold statues and a diamond for JD2,000, and asked her not to sell them immediately, according to a PSD statement. Later, he returned to see her, alleging that there was $22 million hidden in an area in Amman. He said he could uncover the money, and she gave him JD130,000, the PSD said. The CID has arrested the main suspect and one accomplice, while a second accomplice is still at large, the PSD added.
