AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Monday handed jail terms to 17 defendants after convicting them of carrying out acts of terror and links to the Daesh terror group.
The SSC handed 14 suspects 15-year jail terms, while another suspect was handed a 10-year prison term, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The court sentenced one of the defendants to eight years in prison for threatening to carry out acts of terror and attempting to join terror groups, while another suspect was sentenced to three years in jail for endangering the security of a “brotherly” country, Petra reported.
The cell targeted Roya TV channel, Institut Français de Jordanie, a nightclub in Amman, the tunnels of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Co. near the General Intelligence Department’s branch in Russeifa and the US embassy, according to Petra.
Also on Monday, the court sentenced a bank robbery suspect to 15 years in jail for “committing acts that threaten society”, Petra reported.
