PETRA — A solar-powered electricity generation station began operating on Tuesday in Petra.
The 250-kilowatt station was funded by Mitsubishi Company at a cost of $5 million.
Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority Chief Commissioner Mohammad Nawafleh said the station provides power to restaurants, museums, an emergency clinic and the Nazzal Refugee Camp in Petra, with their power needs estimated at 100 kilowatts.
The extra production is sold to the National Electric Power Company, Nawafleh added.
