Social media users criticise inaction over Israeli assault on Gaza

AMMAN — Social media users from Jordan on Wednesday slammed the world's silence and inaction in the face of an Israeli offensive against Gaza, which has so far resulted in the death and injuries of hundreds of Palestinians.
Twitter users slammed Arab governments' silence in particular and their inability to take action to force Israel to stop its aggression against the besieged coastal enclave.
Many tweeps voiced support for the Palestinian resistance, while others said Arabs are more involved in watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup matches rather than showing solidarity with the Gazans under bombardment by Israel.
Using the hashtags #SaveGaza, #PrayforGaza and #GazaUnderAttack, Twitter and Facebook users said the Arab League has to act to put an end to the Israeli aggression.
"It is sad how many people across the Arab world are enthusiastically following all the details of the World Cup at a time Gaza is being bombed by the Zionists," Mohammad Jaleel wrote on Facebook.
"The Arabs are busy with trivial things while Palestinians in Gaza suffer and need their help," he said.
In a tweet, Ibrahim AlHinai (@ibrahimalhinai) wrote: "Dozens of victims, all the world silent about Israel's crimes!! Where is the democracy? Where is humanity?"
Saleh Sugair (@SalehalSugair) tweeted: "Some women cry as their sons are bleeding in their hands, while some others cry as Brazil lost its game with Germany in the World Cup."
"Until when the Arabs will remain silent?" tweeted Mrwan Al.Akla (@mrwanbb).
Another user called Amjeroo (@amjeroo) said Arab governments only condemn Israel's attacks on Gaza and they take no action at all.
At least 30 civilians, including six children, were among the 38 Palestinian dead in two days air strikes, and 230 people have been wounded, Reuters reported on Wednesday, quoting hospital officials.
