AMMAN — A Slovak commercial mission is scheduled to visit the Kingdom in late June, with the participation of representatives from several economic sectors, to discuss the establishment of complementary industries and boost trade exchange, Slovakia's non-resident Ambassador to Jordan Marek Varga said on Saturday.
Speaking at meeting with member of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) board of directors, Tamim Qasrawi, Varga expressed hope that the Slovak trade mission and its ACI counterparts will continue to hold joint talks, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Qasrawi stressed the importance of the Slovak market for Jordanian exports as a gateway to the EU and Eastern European countries, mainly the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia.
Qasrawi noted that these markets are “promising” for Jordanian industries, especially in light of the Kingdom's free trade agreement with the EU, adding that Jordan can be a gateway for Slovak products to the markets of the Arab Gulf, Iraq and Syria.
On the trade exchange, he said Jordan's exports to Slovakia are “modest”, as their value did not exceed $1 million in 2021, compared with imports worth about $14 million, mainly vehicles and machinery.
Varga referred to the “remarkable” prospects to strengthen economic relations between the countries, pointing to Slovakia's interest at the highest levels to enhance relations with Jordan.
