AMMAN — Tariqi, one of the projects of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, held a job fair and a graduation ceremony for students of the project in its sixth session who completed the training phase within the insurance, communication and information technology sectors.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Business Development Centre (BDC) and in a strategic partnership with Prince’s Trust International (PTI), according to a BDC statement.

Director of the Employability Raising Programme at the King Abdullah II Fund for Development Laith Al Atoum, General Manager of the BDC Ghaleb Hijazi and a number of representatives of supporting companies attended the event.

The job fair was held to connect the graduates of the project with private sector companies for training and employment purposes.

The Tariqi project, launched in 2015, is considered one of the solutions that increase the employment opportunities for young people by studying sectoral needs and involving the private sector in determining them, the statement said.

The project has provided 257 employment opportunities since its launch, in addition to training 573 beneficiaries on life and technical skills in different sectors.

Tariq Al Asadi, one of the Tariqi graduates in the insurance sector, said the training helped him gain many skills to enter the labour market. During his practical training, he was able to obtain an employment opportunity, and he is currently working at an insurance company, Asadi said.

Moataz Al Bakri, another graduate of the project in the ICT sector, expressed the importance of the training in improving his skills, adding that the project played a major role in integrating him into the labour market.

During the ceremony, a number of memoranda of understanding were signed between the BDC and a group of companies in the private sector, with the aim of supporting youth programmes, attracting youth and recent graduates, and integrating them into the labour market.

Hijazi highlighted the importance of the project in integrating Jordanian youth into the labour market. He expressed his pride in partnering with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development and the private sector to implement the project.

Otoum said that the project aims to increase and develop the competitive advantage of Jordanian youth to enter the labour market.
