AMMAN — ICT Minister Majd Shweikeh on Tuesday called for developing the industry of digital games in the Kingdom and to remove obstacles facing the sector through public-private partnerships.
During a visit to Maysalward Company, one of the first mobile game development companies in the Middle East, Shweikeh said the ICT Ministry is keen to improve the skills of young Jordanians in the industry, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The minister said the value of digital games globally is more than $100 billion. She added that the ministry, in cooperation with the sector, is working to achieve the REACH initiative to turn the Kingdom into a regional ICT hub.
REACH initiative, first launched in 1999 by His Majesty King Abdullah, will be implemented between 2016-2025 through action plans, projects and measures required to boost the digital game industry in the Kingdom.
