Shawabkeh attends send-off ceremony for Bishop Munib Yunan in Bethlehem

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Khalid Shawabkeh, head of the Jordanian mission in Ramallah, attended the send-off ceremony for Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land Bishop Munib Yunan.

The ceremony was held to honour his endeavours in serving the church and his contribution to defending the Arab and Muslim identity of Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the ceremony, held in Bethlehem, Shawabkeh delivered a speech in which he conveyed His Majesty’s greeting to Yunan. Shawabkeh stressed that Jordan will continue protecting Muslim and Christian holy places in Jerusalem under the Hashemite Custodianship.

Several senior Palestinian and international officials and clergy attended the ceremony.
