Senate president, House speaker talk ties with Morocco’s Mayara 

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Al Fayez and his Moroccan counterpart Enaam Mayara on Sunday held talks with a focus on strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation in various fields.

Mayara is on an official visit to Jordan, leading  a delegation from the Moroccan House of Councillors. 

Fayez stressed the importance of reciprocal visits between the two chambers, underscoring their mutual dedication to enhancing relations.

Discussions focused on coordinating efforts to address national issues and bolster Arab parliamentary action in the face of security challenges, economic concerns and political conflicts affecting the Arab world, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Fayez expressed the Upper House’s commitment to building and maintaining bilateral relations in the best interest of both nations, as well as strengthening parliamentary relations and consolidating their stances on various international parliamentary issues.

Fayez pointed out the urgency for Arab nations to overcome their differences,  initiate  joint Arab efforts and build strategic partnerships in various fields, noting that such cooperation can improve the economic situation, bring an end to the suffering of refugees and halt conflicts, reduce poverty and unemployment and pave the way for integration.

Fayez also highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts to find political solutions to regional issues, stressing His Majesty’s constant concern for the situation in the region. King Abdullah is committed to a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, which is key to resolving regional conflicts, Fayez added.

Mayara stressed the unwavering commitment of both nations’ leadership to strengthen relations in all fields.

He also stressed the importance of implementing existing economic agreements, notably the "Agadir Agreement", a pact signed between Morocco, Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia. He also called for the establishment of a free trade agreement and the resumption of direct flights between the two countries.

Mayara praised Jordan's positions towards Morocco and its leadership.

Also on Sunday, Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi met with Mayara. During the meeting, both sides highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and their common stances on various regional issues, especially the Palestinian cause.

Safadi also expressed appreciation for Morocco's support of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
