AMMAN — A network of Jordanian scientists and technologists is trying to reverse the “brain drain” caused by the emigration of their colleagues.

The Jordanian Scientists and Technologists Abroad Network (JOSTA) aims to benefit from the experience and knowledge of expat Jordanian scientists through cooperation in research and development, Secretary General for Technical Affairs in the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) Fawwaz El Karmi said in a statement released by JOSTA on Sunday.

JOSTA hopes the collaboration will build the capacity of scientists in Jordan and help in the establishment of start-ups, Karmi said, adding that the network had already connected with 150 Jordanian colleagues working abroad. JOSTA held a workshop on Thursday on the latest developments in nano-materials and their toxicity in collaboration with the HCST and Jerash Private University.
