Safadi takes part in Arab Foreign Ministers consultative meeting

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday participated in the Kuwait-hosted consultative meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers.

Safadi highlighted the importance of the meeting in bolstering joint Arab action, as well as in enhancing Arab countries roles in resolving regional crises and maintain security and stability, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Talks during the meeting focused on Arab issues, foremost of which the Palestinian cause, efforts to resolve the Syrian and Yemini crises, situation in Libya and Lebanon, supporting Iraq, and anti-terrorism efforts, among other regional issues.

Discussions also went over the opportunities of institutionalising Arab cooperation in the field of food and medication security, fighting epidemics, among other vital sectors.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Safadi held expanded discussions with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The two sides lauded the ongoing development of the Jordanian- Egyptian relations in various fields.

Safadi and Shoukry focused on the efforts towards finding a political horizon to realise peace based on the two-state solution, with talks that also referring to efforts towards resolving the Syrian crisis.  

Stressing the need to support Iraq's security and stability, the two ministers emphasised keenness on advancing Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi coordination.

Safadi also held a round of discussions with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi, over furthering bilateral cooperation in various fields, notably in the economic, investment, tourism and cultural related fields.  

Safadi and Busaidi reviewed the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis, with talks also covering the situation in Yemen and means of advancing joint Arab action to face shared challenges.

It was also agreed on developing an expanded agenda for the future meetings to identify the intended sectors.
