Safadi discusses war on Gaza with US coordinator for MENA

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday met with US National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk.

The meeting went over efforts to reach an "immediate and permanent ceasefire", according to a ministry statement.

The two sides also discussed the "catastrophic" consequences of the ongoing war on the besieged strip.

Safadi stressed the importance of halting the aggression on Gaza and delivering "immediate, adequate and sustainable" humanitarian assistance into war-torn Gaza, the statement said. 

During the meeting, Safadi reiterated that any future rapprochement in dealing with Gaza must be based on the fact that Gaza is part of the occupied Palestinian territories and part of a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution.
