AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi received a phone call on Sunday from Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al Yahya, focused on efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the ensuing humanitarian crisis.
The two ministers also discussed ways to enhance the relations between the two countries, reaffirming their commitment to continue working on developing cooperation and coordination in various fields under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah and Kuwait Emir Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Also on Sunday Safadi and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide on Sunday discussed, over the phone, the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the swift delivery of aid into all parts of the Gaza Strip.
Safadi and Eide discussed efforts to address the “catastrophe” in Gaza, reaffirming their commitment to work towards achieving an immediate cessation of war and ensuring unhindered access to aid across the besieged Strip.
Safadi also expressed his deep concern over Israel’s persistent hindrance of aid deliveries to Gaza, particularly in the northern areas, emphasising the crucial need for Israel to open all crossings, thereby facilitating the entry of aid and enabling the United Nations to take full charge of aid distribution and worker protection, Petra, reported.
Highlighting the vital role of the UNRWA in addressing the humanitarian crisis, Safadi urged for increased support to enable the Agency to effectively fulfil its mandate.
Safadi extended his gratitude to Norway for its advocacy in ending the war and its significant role in delivering humanitarian assistance. He also commended Norway’s support for the establishment of a Palestinian state, adhering to the two-state solution.
Both ministers stressed the significance of the Jordanian-Norwegian partnership and reiterated their commitment to bolster cooperation across various sectors.
