AMMAN — Royal Jordanian (RJ) started on Thursday seasonal flights to the Cypriot city of Paphos, operating two flights per week throughout the summer.

RJ Vice Chairman/CEO Samer Majali, during a press meeting held on Wednesday evening, announced that the launch of these flights aligns with the airline's commercial strategy to expand its network, open promising markets and attract inbound tourism, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Majali, in the presence of Cypriot Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis and various officials from RJ and the tourism sector, stressed that RJ supports the Ministry of Tourism and the Jordan Tourism Board's efforts to position Jordan as a premier tourist destination.

He added that introducing flights to Paphos is anticipated to significantly boost religious tourism, encouraging more visitors from Cyprus to explore Jordan's historical and religious sites.

The CEO highlighted that RJ offers numerous travel options this summer, aiming to enhance tourism opportunities for both Jordanians and international tourists.

Majali said this new route adds to the summer vacation destinations that include Sharm El Sheikh, Antalya, Larnaca, Athens, and Barcelona, noting that Paphos will be RJ's second destination in Cyprus, renowned for its cultural and historical landmarks.

He also pointed out that the company is currently focused on enhancing services and operations while increasing revenues through greater network flexibility, increased flight frequencies and boosting its operational hub in Amman.

Majali said that RJ aims to expand its network to 60 destinations, having already launched vital routes to Algeria, Bahrain, Dusseldorf, Stockholm and Brussels.
