Royal initiative: 15 families get keys to new homes in Russeifa

AMMAN — A total of 15 underprivileged families received housing units in Zarqa's Russeifa region on Saturday as part of a Royal initiative to support underprivileged families that was launched following directives made by His Majesty King Abdullah during field visits and meetings with leaders and residents of the governorate. 

The initiative, which was launched in 2005, covers the entire Kingdom and aims to provide beneficiaries with a decent and stable life, primarily in pockets of poverty.

Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, handed the residence titles over to the beneficiaries, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The new, fully equipped and furnished residences, which were implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, consist of two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. All residences are provided with multiple services that meet the needs of the households.

Sustainable social and economic development that has a positive impact on citizens' lives is among King Abdullah’s top priorities. Royal initiatives have been set to meet the needs of citizens in cities, rural areas, the Badia regions, and camps.

Issawi also attended the opening of a 960-square-metre investment building for the Talbia Camp’s Services Committee in Amman, which includes a commercial warehouse, offices, halls and health facilities.

Such buildings open up investment opportunities that can generate returns for the camps’ service committees, in addition to carrying out infrastructure operations and improving service provision, Petra reported.

Issawi also checked up on the 33- dunnum Islamic cemetery in the camp, including the construction of external fences, sun shades and facilities. These improvements were implemented to ease pressure on the region’s cemeteries and to serve residents of the camps and Giza municipality.

In press remarks, Issawi highlighted the Royal directives to improve citizens' lives, especially those experiencing hardships, by introducing development initiatives to meet their essential needs.
