AMMAN — Upon directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday attended the opening of Ishtafaina Park.
Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, also checked on the progress of development, tourism and societal initiatives in Ajloun, which have come under the directives of His Majesty during his field visits to the governorate.
Accompanied by ministers of Public Works and Housing Yahya Kisbi, Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez and Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh, Issawi checked on a number of tourist sites in Koura District, which have been rehabilitated upon Royal directives issued on June 16.
In Ajloun, Issawi toured the 200-dunum Ishtafaina Park, which includes 230 spots for visitors among the trees, play areas for children, and booths to show local products.
He also had a firsthand look at an Arab Potash Company-funded centre for people with special needs in Ajloun, which is part of Royal initiatives, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The inspection tour also included a project of 15 "chalets", which was established in implementation of the Royal directives in the Ajloun Forest Reserve, to provide tourists a calm atmosphere to enjoy the scenic landscape.
Each chalet consists of a bedroom, living room and a bathroom, Petra added.
He also visited the “Adventure Games” project in the Ajloun forest.
In Irbid's Kourah District, Issawi checked on a number of tourism projects, including Barqash cave.
He also visited the “Cave of Christ” and Beit Edds Church, where he was briefed on the plans to upgrade their infrastructure to enhance religious tourism and preserve their historical and archaeological monuments.
Issawi also checked on “Odeh Mill” in the Wadi El Rayan region, among other sites.
In press remarks, Issawi said that the Royal initiatives have witnessed success in all sectors, including tourism, services, health and education, which reaffirms that "the Kingdom is in the right track”.
The Royal initiatives seek to intensify efforts and implement further projects that could translate the Royal vision towards improving local services and the lives of the targeted groups.
The Royal Initiatives, launched as per His Majesty directives made during his outreach meetings with citizens, are based on specific work programmes and timetables to measure the implementation of these projects through partnership with government agencies and civil society institutions.
