AMMAN — Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Thursday inaugurated Al Mughair Secondary School for Boys, the sports hall of Al Nahda Club for the Physically Disabled and a multipurpose hall at Azmi Al Mufti Palestinian refugee camp in Irbid.

The projects were set up upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, after a meeting with the governorate’s community leaders and dignitaries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

They are aimed at improving the level of services provided to citizens, particularly in the field of education, as well as empowering civil society organisations and enhancing their role in serving local communities and in the process of sustainable development, Petra said.

Al Mughair School includes 25 classrooms, two science labs, two computer labs and a basketball court, with about 600 students in the seventh to 12th grades.

The multipurpose sports hall of Al Nahda Club features the necessary infrastructure and facilities for the club’s sports teams to perform and practice their sport activities, especially basketball and volleyball, while the multipurpose hall in the refugee camp was established to serve the camp’s residents during their various occasions.

Issawi said that the launch of these projects is an implementation of His Majesty’s directives to provide the best services to citizens and improve their living standards, according to Petra.

He underscored that the King has taken great interest in the education sector and students, adding that the opening of the school would provide an appropriate educational environment for the students and drive them towards excellence.

Issawi also said that the Al Nahda multi-purpose sports hall aims to enable the physically disabled to play sports and further their integration into society, providing opportunities and hope for a decent life.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research Walid Maani, and Public Works and Housing Minister Falah Omoush.
