Romanian ambassador hails ‘excellent partnership’ with Jordan

AMMAN — Romanian Ambassador to Jordan George Cristian Maior discussed the “excellent partnership” between the two countries spanning over 57 years of diplomatic relations in an interview with the Jordan News Agency, Petra on Wednesday.
Maior described Jordan as a diplomatic partner to Romania, a linchpin of regional stability and security and an example of resilience in the face of common challenges.
The ambassador emphasised that Romania supports Jordan as a “trusted NATO ally”, referencing recent bilateral dialogue carried out in diplomatic visits by foreign ministers and officials from both countries.
Maior stated that Romania seeks to advance trade ties and economic cooperation with Jordan, adding that the two nations should prioritise food security and green energy.
The ambassador noted that recent years have witnessed an upward trend in bilateral trade, which has benefited both economies.
He expressed belief that the two nations’ diplomatic relationship can boost Jordanian exports to Romania, adding that Romania’s close proximity to major EU markets benefits Jordanian exporters.
The Romanian envoy noted Jordan’s recent emergence as one of the most popular travel destinations in the Middle East, stating that media showcasing Jordan’s rich historical and cultural heritage has influenced a large number of Romanians to travel to Jordan in 2022.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, he stressed his country’s support for the two-state solution for peace and security as per international law.
