Revenue from income, sales tax hits JD4 billion

AMMAN — Revenue from income and sales taxes stood at some JD4 billion in the first nine months of 2021, compared with JD3.534 billion collected in the same period of 2020, the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) announced on Sunday.
The ISTD pointed out in a statement that income tax in the January-September period of 2021 reached JD1.036 billion, up from JD962 million in the same period of last year, marking an increase of 8 per cent, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Meanwhile, the revenue collected from the sales tax in the first nine months of 2021 reached JD2.955 billion, up from JD2.571 billion in the same period of 2020, increasing by 15 per cent. The department attributed the increase to the impact of resuming economic activities and tax reforms.
