AMMAN — Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) Khaled Kalaldeh on Saturday met with the secretary-generals of political parties and their representatives, in light of preparations for holding the elections of provincial and municipal councils as well as the Amman Municipality Council, scheduled for March.
Kalaldeh affirmed that in light of the constitutional amendments, managing the legal, financial and administrative affairs of the parties has become one of the authority's duties, which include the registration, follow-up and financing of parties through a unit created specifically for this purpose.
Kalaldeh reviewed the stages of the electoral process starting from registration to candidacy and electoral campaigning and ending with the result announcing. He added that the greatest challenge facing the commission is to restore voters’ confidence in the electoral process.
