AMMAN — The Ministry of Water and Irrigation will distribute the request for proposal (RFP) of the Red Sea-Dead Sea Water Conveyance Project to the five shortlisted consortiums in two weeks, a senior official has said. The project’s studies, blueprints and tender documents are all ready, Minister of Water and Irrigation Hazim El Naser said.
“The ministry will receive the proposals from the five shortlisted consortiums later this year or early next year and will study and evaluate the proposals to select the best suited to implement the project on a build-operate and transfer basis,” El Naser said.
Seventeen international consortiums showed interest in implementing the project’s first phase, but only five were shortlisted, according to the ministry, which said that construction of the project’s first phase will commence before June next year.
