Regent receives letter from Saudi king, meets US defence official

AMMAN — HRH Prince Feisal, the Regent, on Thursday met with Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Sami Al Saleh, who delivered a written letter to His Majesty King Abdullah from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The letter addressed bilateral relations and ways to enhance joint Arab action to serve Arab and Muslim nations.
Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh attended the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace.
Prince Feisal also met separately with US Undersecretary of Defence for Policy Christine Wormuth and discussed Jordanian-US ties and recent developments in the region.
The King’s Military Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben and US Ambassador to Jordan Alice G. Wells attended the meeting.
Prince Feisal was sworn as Regent on Thursday.
Zaben also met separately with Wormuth and discussed military issues of mutual interest.
Wormuth commended the Kingdom’s efforts in working for the security and stability of the region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh also met with the US official and discussed regional developments, especially the Syrian refugee burden carried by Jordan.
Thanking the US for its support, Judeh said the international community should help Jordan continue its humanitarian mission.
Wormuth said the US is committed to maintaining coordination with Jordan.
