Recent rain channels 2.5mcm of water into dams

AMMAN — The recent rainfall channelled 2.5 million cubic metres (mcm) of water into the country’s major dams, filling 30.67 per cent of their overall capacity of 336.4 mcm, the Water Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Minister of Water and Irrigation Motasem Saidan said that the total amount of rainfall across the Kingdom totalled 70 million mcm, some 0.9 per cent of the Kingdom’s long-term annual average rainfall of 8.1 billion mcm.
According to the statement, Maan, 220km south of the capital, witnessed the highest amount of rainfall, registering 39 million mcm, followed by Amman that received 7.5 mcm, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
