Razzaz visits Karak schools, reviews development plans

AMMAN — The Ministry of Education is working to enhance cooperation and communication with local communities and the Jordan Teachers Association, which is considered an effective partner in the ongoing development process, Minister Omar Razzaz said on Monday.

During a field visit to schools in the Central Karak Educational Directorate, Razzaz met with principals, educational supervisors and representatives of educational development councils, to review the ministry’s plans to develop the sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also went over the goals of the national centre for developing curricula, plans to train teachers and improve the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi), as well as the role of the accountability unit in providing the ministry with feedback on programmes’ implementation. . 

The Cabinet last month approved the mandating reasons for the by-law of the national centre aimed at developing curricula to be sent to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau.

The centre will be tasked with updating curricula and examinations of preschool, primary and secondary grades, in line with the Jordanian educational philosophy based on Jordanian religious and national constants.

Razzaz underlined the ministry’s approach based on building up on previous achievements through institutional work, and discussed several issues related to student overcrowding in classrooms, rented schools and the best use of technology.

The minister also listened to issues and challenges faced by the directorate, and pledged to work on solving them.
